Positive Dementia Paths

Locally owned small business that offers education and training to caregivers of older adults, with special emphasis on dementia caregiving provided by Dr. Mary Lou Donovan, PhD, OTR/L.
Dr. Donovan, an expert in the field, has practiced Occupational Therapy for 42 years, and has provided training and education to individual or family caregivers in their homes, to professional or church groups, and to Master and Doctoral level students. With proper training, education, and environmental set up it may be possible to keep your loved one in the home for a longer time, while maintaining the caregiver’s well being.

What They Do

  • Listen to individual needs
  • Assess abilities and environment
  • Personalize recommendations
  • Educate and train for success
  • Revise plan as changes occur

How The Process Works

  • First step in the process is to have a phone interview to determine needs
  • Next schedule a home visit to gather information for assessment
  • Dr. Donovan will then develop a individualized plan
  • Second visit will include training, education, and overview of plan
  • Visits will continue to provide more training and education so the family can develop refined skills in caregiving as their loved one’s memory loss progresses
