Duluth Area YMCA – Active Older Adult Programs

The YMCA offers Active Older Adult programs that accommodate a wide variety of interests and functional abilities of older adults.

Active Older Adult Group Exercise Classes

  • Forever Fit Total Conditioning: Class is designed to increase flexibility, joint stability, balance, coordination, agility, muscular strength and cardio endurance.  The workout combines aerobic, flexibility and resistance strength training with plenty of friendly fun. (Register for these classes on the Downtown Schedule).
  • Locations/ScheduleGND Rec Center | Woodland Community Center 
  • Gentle Yoga: Focuses on slow stretches, flexibility, and deep breathing to help reduce stress. This class includes safe and gentle moves that enhance the flexibility of your spine and the muscles that control it.
  • Locations/ScheduleEssentia Wellness Center 
  • SilverSneakers Classic: Designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
  • Locations/ScheduleEssentia Wellness Center  | Downtown
  • SilverSneakers Circuit: The SilverSneakers Circuit workout offers standing, low-impact choreography alternated with standing upper body strength work with hand held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a Silver Sneakers ball. A chair is available for standing support.

  • Senior Nature Fitness Walks: Weekly Senior Nature Fitness Walks will return when weather allows.
